What is the difference between SATIN and SILK?

The fundamental difference between satin and silk actually lies in the way those materials were produced.  Satin is a manmade fabric made from polymers that contains oil, chemical compositions and other synthetic materials, that is often found in plastic containers. Satin is a weave and not a natural fiber like silk. Satin has a glossy side and a dull side. It is made from a combination of other fabrics, such as nylon, rayon, polyester and minimum silk particles. Satin often contain polyester, which can be hard, brittle and not very breathable for your skin.

Silk is a natural protein fiber. Silk has a smooth, light and soft texture that is not slippery. Silk is considered to be one of the strongest natural fibers. However, silk loses a minimum of strength when wet, so it's important to wash silk properly. Silk is not elastic, so there is no stretch. Silk is hypoallergenic and repels common household allergens including bacteria, mold, fungi and dust mites.
